  74. Nathan, Stop what you are doing and go down to the boat store and buy a marine 
  75. style antenna for your boat. Shakespere makes a bunch of different types and 
  76. they are real cheap.

  99. It seems to me that a lot of MFJ's products are vaporware.  They eventually
  100. get everything to market, but it looks like they advertise something a long
  101. time before they're ready to sell.  I've personally tried to order three
  102. different items from them, only to be told they were all backordered.

  132. My 2 cents: I have room for a full wave dipole on 40, but only as a
  133. sloper.  It's 50 ft high at one end, 30 ft at the other.  With a good
  134. tuner, I've done quite well on 40 and 80 (even worked Costa Rica on 160
  135. with 100 watts).  It works great during Sweepstakes.  Bottom line: don't
  136. worry, put something up that _you_ feel is reasonable, and have fun!!

  147. Here is a question for all you guys who just got out of college and have 
  148. brains full of theory.  This question came up for discussion on the Un 
  149. Radio Club repeater.

  151. When an antenna is at resonance, assuming no reactance, there should be a 
  152. 1:1 VSWR.  When the VSWR is measured on excursions of a givin frequency, 
  153. the VSWR is always less as the frequency goes up from resonance than when 
  154. it goes down.  Why.  What is the theory behind the why.

  168. I have a couple of fox hunts coming up in the near future, but I really
  169. cannot afford to invest much more in ham radio for awhile :-(  So, the
  170. header says it all.  What inexpensive 2m RDF antennas and/or techniques
  171. have you successfully utilized.

  173. These are beginners' hunts, where the fox will be stationary, with not
  174. nasty tricks like switching polarization.  The average terrain is fairly
  175. hilly, from about 300 to 800 or more feet above sea level.
